"renegade" is a cohesive and related set of letterforms I developed a working alphabet for. This project demonstrated my understanding of typographic structures, proportions, and principles of typography.
Renegade was created by adopting features from other slab serifs such as Rockwell and Archer, using the same bold attitude, but with a fresh take on overall form and unique features. Each letterform was completely redrawn and revised until the intention of the typeface was achieved. It is the perfectly balanced weight in order to express both attitude and sophistication. Renegade is a simple, clean, legible slab serif inspired by vintage rock and grunge posters, with a contemporary twist.
On a stylistic level, renegade's round, geometric silhouettes allows it's users to adopt the letterforms as a part of their own individual and unique medium. On a practical level, the letterforms can be used on both a macro and a micro level. And finally, on an emotional level, renegade is a badge of attitude and empowerment. It is a strong typeface, with a feeling of authenticity, music, and creativity.
